The Biotechnology Team of NZTE administers the Australia New Zealand Biotech Partnership Fund (ANZBPF), to assist Australasian biotech organisations realise their international potential. As the Programme Manager, your role is key to ensuring that the fund achieves its objective. This is a busy, autonomous and varied role where just some of your responsibilities will include: Managing programme eligibility; day to day administration of the fund and management of budgets; reviewing and drafting policies; reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide range of contracts including joint venture and partnership agreements and much more.

To succeed in this role you will need to have superb relationship building and communication skills; excellent commercial acumen; strong financial and/or legal skills; and the desire to contribute to the growth of New Zealand industry. As Senior Legal Counsel, you are responsible for providing timely, reliable and accurate advice on a variety of issues for IRL and its subsidiaries. The main focus involves drafting and reviewing revenue and procurement contracts.

The successful candidate will also assist in the formulation of the IP strategy as a member of the IP steering group. There may also be occasions when more generalist legal advice is required on matters relating to employment and company law.

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • 5 to 10 years’ post admission experience, preferably in private practice and/or within an in-house corporate or commercial environment
  • Excellent analytical and rational thinking skills
  • Sound judgment
  • Ability to work within tight time frames
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent client relationship management skills.
