Scope and purpose
1 This privacy statement applies to personal information collected on the website (“Site”) of the Corporate Lawyers Association of New Zealand (“CLANZ”, “we”, “us”): www.clanzonline.org or www.clanz.org. Its main purpose is to let site users know when we collect personal information and what we do with it.
Collection, storage and use
2 No need to disclose personal information to access public areas Public access areas of the Site can be viewed and any RSS or Atom feeds produced by the site can be subscribed to without the need to disclose any personal information to us.
3 Your disclosure of personal information However, if you are eligible and wish to become a member of CLANZ and/or obtain access to members or premium members only areas of the Site, you will need to disclose personal information to us to the extent required by the Site’s registration form or as otherwise prescribed by CLANZ. This information may consist of identifying, work-related, demographic and contact details.
4 Additional disclosure You may also choose to disclose personal information when:
- contributing documents or other files to the Site;
- adding a comment to articles and commentary posted to the site by others; or
- participating in any discussion areas on the Site.
5 Holding of information Personal information that you provide will be held by one or more of CLANZ, Event Mergers and, indirectly, the Site’s host.
6 Use of personal information We will only use personal information provided to us for the purposes of:
- administering the Site;
- sending eCLANZ and/or other electronic announcements, notices and surveys to members and others to whom access to members or premium members only areas of the Site has been granted;
- sending hard copy mailouts to members (e.g., information regarding the CLANZ annual conference); and
- otherwise delivering and improving our services.
7 Disclosure to third parties Unless required by law, neither we nor Event Mergers will disclose the personal information you provide to us to third parties other than in accordance with clause 9 of the Terms of use [add link] and clause 6 above.
Statistical information
8 Statistical information collected We may collect statistical information about your visit to help us monitor or improve the Site. Unless you use personally identifying search terms, this information is anonymous. It may include:
- your IP address;
- the search terms you used;
- the pages you accessed on our website and the links you clicked on;
- the date and time you visited the site;
- the previous site you visited;
- your operating system (e.g., Windows XP, Mac OSX); and
- the type of web browser you use (e.g., Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox).
Rights of access and correction
9 Your rights Pursuant to the Privacy Act 1993, you have the right to access and to request correction of any of your personal information provided to CLANZ in connection with your use of this website. If you would like to see the personal information relating to you that CLANZ has stored, or to change such personal information, or if you have any concerns regarding your privacy, please contact us by any of the means set out below. We may require proof of your identity before being able to provide you with any personal information.
