Our client, an industry regulatory body, seeks a senior lawyer to fill the role of Investigator. The Investigator investigates and reports on alleged material breaches of industry rules and regulations, with the aim of effecting settlements wherever possible and referring unsettled matters to the Rulings Panel for determination. They may also be required to provide submissions and prosecute the matter at hearings.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
• An LLB with a current practising certificate
• Experience in litigation, court advocacy and dispute resolution processes
• A confident and fair manner in dealing with litigious parties
• A well developed ability to analyse complex information, often within tight timeframes
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
• A sound understanding of the principles of natural justice
• An understanding of effective investigative processes
The degree of investigation activity is dependent on the nature and frequency of alleged rule beaches. Over the past twelve months the investigator has averaged two to three days per week and there have been significant peaks and troughs. Accordingly, the investigator needs to have sufficient flexibility to be available as and when required. May suit barrister.
